Finsweet Components is powering your Webflow site beyond development
Finsweet Components helps you develop JavaScript components, but that's not what we're selling.
What we're really offering is a managed service for hosting and delivering these components.
What is Finsweet Components?
- High quality, feature-rich JavaScript Components that require no code to build and manage.
- Webflow App Configurator to customize each web component for your project.
- Fully integrated with Webflow elements, Webflow Designer, and Webflow CMS.
- Managed service that organizes and delivers JavaScript code for your project.
- Ongoing monitoring and updates for browser bugs, device incompatibility, and deprecated browser features.
Why Finsweet Components is not a developer tool:
"The Home Builder Example"
Imagine a home builder is hired to build a home.
They need a toolbox of tools to help them complete their job.
- They need building tools like a drill, hammer, clamp, level, ladder, safety equipment, etc.
These tools are developer tools because they help create the house, but are no longer needed once the house is built.

The developer tools are only needed during the building of the home.
The family has moved into the house and the home builder's toolbox is no longer needed. The hammer, ladder, and every other developer tool is not included in the delivery of the home.
Finsweet Components is needed after your job is done
A managed JavaScript service is needed after the developer's job is complete and the website goes live.
If you take away Finsweet Components from a published project, the JavaScript will no longer be served to the website. All elements that rely on that JavaScript will break.
(This is true for all services that manage JavaScript for you)

We are performing an ongoing service for the project once its live—just like all of these wonderful services provide a provide an ongoing service.
To summarize
- A developer tool is not needed after the project is delivered.
- A published page tool is required after the project is delivered.
Your client relies on Finsweet to deliver JavaScript to the project on every page load.
and...(this part is important)...
We don't want you to pay for a subscription for your client's project
It gets messy for you, us, and your end customer.
Check out these two simple scenarios that outline why we can not let you manage a subscription on behalf of your client.
Scenario 1
You build a website for 10 clients under a "10 Sites package" monthly subscription plan we offer to agencies.
You, the developer, pay $39/month and can use it up to 10 sites.
You build 10 amazing client sites, and then realize web development isn't for you.
You're leaving the web profession and you cancel your $39/month plan for Finsweet Components.
- What happens to the 10 sites you built with Finsweet Components if you're no longer paying for the subscription?
- Do those sites still work under the cancelled subscription?
- How does Finsweet continue to be paid for the live sites it's managing JavaScript for?
If we turn off the Components on the client sites, we'll have 10 very angry companies.
If the Components on the client sites continue to work, then Finsweet is offering a managed service for free to 10 companies.
Scenario 2
This one is even more scary (for us).
Imagine you buy a "Unlimited sites" plan from Finsweet for $199/month. You can add Finsweet Components to any client site you want.
You add it to your 50 active clients in the first month.
All 50 have Finsweet Components loading on their site! Great!
Now you, the developer, cancel your subscription.
Same questions:
- What happens to those 50 sites when you cancel?
- Did Finsweet just allow 50 websites to use Finsweet Components for $199?
Each of these scenarios fails because Finsweet Components isn't just a developer tool.
The managed JavaScript service is needed after the project is delivered, and someone has to be responsible for that cost. (It shouldn't be the developer!)
What's next?
We understand these challenges and we created a plan to redirect them.
The Project Lifetime plan is built for developers, freelancers, and agencies to use Finsweet Components without the hassle of ongoing subscriptions or future payments.
