How to find a Youtube Channel ID

The channel ID represents an entire Youtube Channel. You can publish videos from your own channel or any channel with public content. Along with the Channel ID, you also need a Youtube API Key.

Find your own Youtube Channel ID

  1. Sign in to YouTube.
  2. In the top right, select your profile picture and then Settings.

  1. You’ll see your channel’s user and channel IDs.

Find the Channel ID of a channel you don't own

Channel IDs are public, but they’re usually hidden from view. As a developer, you can retrieve one by querying the API with the channel’s URL, or—if you prefer—use the free tool below.

  1. Navigate to the home page of a channel on Youtube, and copy its URL
    1. If the URL looks like this: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCofBxyxHTeSF7b05NIlF_lg then the last part UCofBxyxHTeSF7b05NIlF_lg is the channel ID. Copy it from the URL and go to next step.
    2. If the URL looks like this https://www.youtube.com/channel/theChannelName, copy the entire URL and read below.
  2. Paste the entire URL it in the field below
  3. Click on Retrieve the Channel ID
  4. Copy the Channel ID and go to next step

Option 1: Navigate to the home page of a channel on Youtube, and copy its URL

  2. If the URL looks like this https://www.youtube.com/channel/theChannelName, copy the entire URL and follow the instructions in Option 2 below.

Option 2: Use the free tool

  1. Paste the entire URL it in the field below
  2. Click on Retrieve the Channel ID
  3. C‍opy the Channel ID and go to next step

Test your API Key in the App

  1. Open the Finsweet Component Youtube Feed app
  2. Paste the Channel ID in the Channel ID field, press Enter, and wait for the preview on the right to update. For the preview to update, you also must provide a Youtube API Key.
