Client-First for AI (beta)

We’re releasing client-first.md, a Markdown file that holds the Client-First rules in a format AI agents can follow. It’s built for use with the Webflow MCP, so an agent can read your project and build inside it the Client-First way.

‍This file is in beta. It won’t produce a launch-ready project on its own. Use it to get started faster, set up structure, and handle the repetitive parts of a build. Expect to review and refine the result yourself. We’ll keep improving the file as we test it and learn from your feedback.

What it covers

The file holds every Client-First rule. That includes naming, core structure, class strategies, variables, spacing, typography, folders, component and interaction naming, global styles, and accessibility. It also tells the agent how to work in a Webflow project: what to check first, what to ask before changing, and what to report when it’s done.

What to use it for

  • Building new pages and sections in a project that started from the Client-First starter cloneable.
  • Creating classes, variables, and components that follow the Client-First system.
  • Checking an existing Client-First project against the rules. Ask the agent to report issues first and make no changes.

What not to use it for yet

  • Converting a project that was not built with Client-First.
  • Publishing without reviewing the changes yourself.

How to use it

  1. Download client-first.md.
  2. Add it to your AI tool’s context, such as a Claude Project, Cursor rules, or Claude Code.
  3. Connect the Webflow MCP to your project.
  4. Name the site you want to work on in your first message.
  5. Share your design file or brand guidelines. The starter cloneable’s values are placeholders, not your project’s design.
  6. Start with a small task and review the result.

Back up your project before you let an agent make changes.
